HP EliteBook 840 G1 bears resemblance to its brother devices, the 850 G1 and 820 G1. The case features both magnesium and aluminium in its design. The body of the laptop is made of magnesium, while aluminium is used for the keyboard area.
A minimalist design is used for the keyboard. At a thickness as low as 21 mm and weight starting at 1.58 kilograms, the EliteBook 840 G1 is obviously intended to be a mobile machine.
The computer flaunts a 14-inch display with LED backlight and three different resolution namely 1366 x 768 pixels, 1600 x 900 pixels, or 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) with touchscreen also available as an option. Based on its anti-glare quality, the screen will be easy to use in outdoor environments.
The Performance of the HP EliteBook 840 G1
This laptop is equipped with a powerful processor. But there are different processor types, including Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. What you have in pocket will determine what model you can get. Graphics are handled by a built-in Intel HD Graphics 4400 processor with support for DirectX-11.
The standard model of HP EliteBook 840 G1 comes with 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM, upgradeable up to 16GB. Out of the box, the laptop has Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) installed.
Extra Specs
HP EliteBook 840 G1 offers 120GB, 128GB, or 256GB solid state drive or high-speed (7500 rpm) hard drives of capacities 320GB or 500GB. An option for 1TB (5400 rpm) capacity, depending on the model you buy.
It is provided with a slew of ports, including four USB 3.0 ports, a VGA port, a Gigabit-Ethernet port, an ultra-slim docking port and a DisplayPort.
Easy access to internal components of the laptop is provided. You are able to gain access to components such as hard drive, RAM, battery and Wi-Fi just by undoing a latch at the base of the unit.
There are also several other interesting features, including the Sure Start BIOS feature that creates a backup of your BIOS for later use if your BIOS become corrupt.
