The HP EliteBook 1040 G1 notebook is attractively thin at just 15.9 millimetres. At a weight of 1.49 kg, it should be stress-free moving about with the ultrabook, which has a matte-platinum finish. Aluminium and magnesium alloy features in the laptop’s design to add a premium feel.
HP provides an innovative multi-touch trackpad called ForcePad to enable users use gestures similar to those available on smartphones and tablets to carry out operations. The backlit, spill-resistant keyboard makes for comfortable typing in low-light conditions.
The EliteBook 1040 G1 promises ruggedness having been designed to pass military-standard MIL-STD 810G testing. It packs a 14-inch diagonal display with resolution options of HD+ (1600 x 900 pixels) and Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels). The matte screen has touch and non-touch options.
The Hardware
Equipped with fourth-generation Intel Core processors, HP EliteBook 1040 G1 is designed for responsive performance that makes tasks easier for professionals. Buyers will be able to choose between Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors.
Graphics is handled by a built-in Intel HD Graphics 4400 GPU. The laptop comes with system memory of up to 8 GB and a 6-cell, 42Whr polymer battery that should last almost a full work day.
HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 comes preinstalled with Windows 8.1 Pro (64-bit) operating system – Windows 7 Professional is available through downgrade rights. You could as well choose SUSE Linux Enterprise or FreeDOS. Zippy solid-state drive with capacity ranging to 128 GB to 256 GB comes with the ultrabook.
Port and connector options include two USB 3.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.2 and a side docking connector. There is also a multi-format card reader. Blazing internet connections is ensured with dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and optional HP Mobile Broadband supporting 3G and 4G LTE.
HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 comes with usual protection and security features for business users, including a fingerprint reader, HP Sure Start, HP BIOSphere, HP Trust Circles and HP Secure Erase.
